“Is not My word like fire?” declares the Lord, “and like a hammer which shatters a rock? ~ Jeremiah 23:29
...He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. ~ Matthew 3:11
For our God is a consuming fire. ~ Hebrews 12:29
When we think of fire it denotes destruction. Homes devastated by fire are completely useless afterward. What you have painstakingly put up for years can be gone in minutes due to faulty wiring or other things. Forest fires creates chaos on the environment, looses the natural habitat of animals and birds, plants and other living creatures God made. Despite its devastating effects, fire also purifies. Gold goes through fire so the impurities will surface and only pure gold remains. Fire is used to warm you especially in cold weather. Fire is used for cooking; and many other good uses as well. The word of God is like fire, it purifies as we read and meditate upon it. It takes away our impurities and melts our stubbornness.
How about hammer? The Word of God is also compared to a hammer. It hammers us so it can shatter our own will and destroy what we have put up on our own for many years. When we allow God to change us, a transformation begins.
God using both fire and hammer in our life, will change us. The old stubborn nature becomes a new nature with Him. The once diabolic and old nature we have turns into something useful with the ability to overcome and please God.
Have you gone through the fire of God? Have you allowed God to hammer all your stubbornness? Think about it.
Have a God-blessed week with family and friends!
